A Crafty Friend Like You is a Gift

Edited on 4/28/2018

I’m thrilled that this card was chosen as one of the Top 3 by Through the Craft Room Door Challenge Blog with the following comment from DT Natalie: I really like the mix of monochrome with an inked background and the floral silhouette design. So pretty and elegant.

Thanks so much, DT Natalie.

Hi Stamping Friends,

I was in a mood to make a mixed media CAS card and this is what I made. I plan to send it to a craft friend whom I haven’t met for quite a while.

I like the contrast element of this card, e.g. black versus white and mixed media versus clean & simple. Hope you like this card too. Thanks for stopping by.

My card style is mixed media CAS. I was inspired by the beautiful spring colors and the flower theme.

Beautiful Journey

Hi Stamping Friends,

It’s time to play along with Happy Little Stampers (HLS) Mixed Media Challenge again. The April Challenge Theme is TRAVEL.

For more details and other DTs’ inspirations, please check out the Challenge Blog. Anything mixed media could be linked up to our challenge as long as it follows our theme. Our winner for this challenge will receive a $20 coupon to spend at the shop! Check out all the details HERE. IF YOU USE STAMPS BY HAPPY LITTLE STAMPERS AND YOU ARE OUR RANDOM WINNER, YOUR PRIZE WILL BE DOUBLED!

Today I’m excited to play with Distress Oxide Inks which have been sitting on my shelf for months. (Yes, I don’t know what went wrong with me to take such a long time to try. Ha!) This tag has everything I love - bright colors, layers and textures. And I love the theme - travel too. The following are how I made my tag.

Tag Details

1. Press Distress Oxide Inks on craft sheet and spritz with water. Swipe watercolor tag on craft sheet with Distress Oxide Inks.

2. Continue to swipe tag on craft sheet several times to layer colors.

3. Add more colors to build more layers of colors.

4. Stamp text background on tag.

5. Apply embossing paste over stencil to create textures.

6. Die cut globe, heart and flower. Cover heart with Wink of Stella for shining effect.

7. Assemble the tag as shown.

Hope this tag is eye-pleasing and inspirational to you. Wish you a great day and thanks for stopping by.

Hello, You Brighten My Day

Edited on 4/29/2018
I’m super excited that this card was chosen as one of the Outstanding Designs by CAS Mix Up Challenge Blog. Thanks DTs, you ladies made my day!

Hi Stamping Friends,

Rubber Band Technique is something I learnt in my early stage of stamping journey, yet I haven’t played it for many years. I was so inspired and fascinated by Loll’s artworks that I decided to make a card with a similar style.

Card Details

1. Use a previously-made scrap (shown below) and apply Distress Inks to create tone-on-tone effect.

2. Apply Rubber Band Technique with Archival Black Ink on background scrap.

3. Die cut wonky stitched frame (My Favorite Things and Simon Says Stamp, respectively). Die cut text (Hero Arts) and bird (Memory Box).

4. Stamp the text and assemble the card as shown.

I'd like to thank Loll for her wonderful tutorial video and inspirations. I’m so delighted that I made this card. Hope this mixed media CAS card is eye-pleasing to you. Thanks for stopping by.

Distress Ink Direct on Stencil is my choice in this card.

     My favorite technique is stenciling.

The beautiful colors like pink, orange, yellow and the bird all remind me that spring is coming.
