2. Apply Distress Inks to make Ombre effect.
3. Apply Crackle Texture Paste over stencil (The Crafters Workshop) on tag.

Smile and Sparkle

Hi Stamping Friends,

We have a holiday here in Taiwan today - the dragon boat festival. Yay! In addition to eating Zongzi, a triangle-like sticking rice dumpling, I managed to finish a CAS card and I’m absolutely happy about this.

Card Details

1. I used up some of my previously-made mixed media scraps by weaving them randomly and layering as a background layer.

2. Butterfly die cut is by Sizzix/Tim Holtz. Text is by Happy Little Stampers.
3. Gold, Silver Metallic and Sparkle Transparent Embossing Powders are by Tsukineko.

Hope this card is eye-pleasing to you. Thanks for stopping by and wish you a great week ahead.

I combined Mixed Embossing Powders Technique and Encrusted Jewel Technique to make my butterfly. Thanks CAS Mixed Up DTs for the challenge theme and the inspirations.

My choice in this card is Die Cut. I must say the embossed butterfly is awesomely shining and sparkling as can be seen below.

I have butterfly, Metallic (Theme) and Mint Green/Medium Blue (Color) in my card.

Happy Day

Hi Stamping Friends,

It’s time to play along with Happy Little Stampers (HLS) Mixed Media Challenge again. The June Challenge Theme is LAYERS.

For more details and other DTs’ inspirations, please check out the Challenge Blog. Anything mixed media could be linked up to our challenge as long as it follows our theme. Our winner for this challenge will receive a $20 coupon to spend at the shop! IF YOU USE STAMPS BY HAPPY LITTLE STAMPERS AND YOU ARE OUR RANDOM WINNER, YOUR PRIZE WILL BE DOUBLED!

I must confess (again) that due to time constraints, I had no idea what and how to start. Luckily I was so inspired by Shari Carrol’s video tutorial that I kicked start quickly. The tag is full of layers. The following is how I made the tag.

Tag Details
1. I mimicked what Shari did (please see the YouTube tutorial) and made four background papers in one time.

2. Picked one of the background cardstock and cut into the tag size. Overstamp text background (by Stampers Anonymous).

3. Applied Pearlescent Embossing Paste over leave stencil (by Simon Says Stamp) on tag and let dry.

4. Stamped flower and stem (by Altenew) and die cut. Heat emboss text in white on black scrap.

 5. Assembled the tag. The pearlescent shine is really stunning.

The tag’s vividly bright colors together with the elegant flower and leave made me happy. Hope it is eye-pleasing to you.  Thanks so much for stopping by and wish you a happy day.

Life is Good

Hi Stamping Friends,

It’s time to play along with Happy Little Stampers (HLS) Mixed Media Challenge again. The May  Challenge Theme is GOLD.

For more details and other DTs’ inspirations, please check out the Challenge Blog. Anything mixed media could be linked up to our challenge as long as it follows our theme. Our winner for this challenge will receive a $20 coupon to spend at the shop! Check out all the details HERE. IF YOU USE STAMPS BY HAPPY LITTLE STAMPERS AND YOU ARE OUR RANDOM WINNER, YOUR PRIZE WILL BE DOUBLED!

I must confess that due to time constraints, I had no inspirations at all. I started from a piece of previously-made scrap to save time. The following are how I made my tag.

Tag Details

1. The scrap to kick off my tag is shown below. I believe I spritzed various distress mists on stencil and used the stencil as a stamp over a card stock.

2. Apply various Distress Inks to create tone-on-tone effect.

3. Stamp music note collage.

4. Apple Distress Oxide Ink on stencil. Mist the stencil and use the stencil as a stamp over the tag. Edge the tag with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

5. Apply Gold Embossing Paste over Floral Stencil on tag. To make the gold silhouette flower pop, trace the raised portion with black Sharpie pen.

6. Stamp text and frame, and cut out.

7. Assemble the tag.

Hope this last-minute project is eye-pleasing to you.  Thanks for stopping by and wish you a great day.

A Crafty Friend Like You is a Gift

Hi Stamping Friends,

I was in a mood to make a mixed media CAS card and this is what I made. I plan to send it to a craft friend whom I haven’t met for quite a while.

I like the contrast element of this card, e.g. black versus white and mixed media versus clean & simple. Hope you like this card too. Thanks for stopping by.

I’m thrilled that this card was chosen as one of the Top 3 by Through the Craft Room Door Challenge Blog with the following comment from DT Natalie: I really like the mix of monochrome with an inked background and the floral silhouette design. So pretty and elegant. Thanks so much, DT Natalie.

Today I’m excited to play with Distress Oxide Inks which have been sitting on my shelf for months. (Yes, I don’t know what went wrong with me to take such a long time to try. Ha!) This tag has everything I love - bright colors, layers and textures. And I love the theme - travel too. The following are how I made my tag.

Tag Details

1. Press Distress Oxide Inks on craft sheet and spritz with water. Swipe watercolor tag on craft sheet with Distress Oxide Inks.

2. Continue to swipe tag on craft sheet several times to layer colors.

3. Add more colors to build more layers of colors.

4. Stamp text background on tag.

5. Apply embossing paste over stencil to create textures.

6. Die cut globe, heart and flower. Cover heart with Wink of Stella for shining effect.

7. Assemble the tag as shown.

Hope this tag is eye-pleasing and inspirational to you. Wish you a great day and thanks for stopping by.

Hello, You Brighten My Day

Hi Stamping Friends,

Rubber Band Technique is something I learnt in my early stage of stamping journey, yet I haven’t played it for many years. I was so inspired and fascinated by Loll’s artworks that I decided to make a card with a similar style.

Card Details

1. Use a previously-made scrap (shown below) and apply Distress Inks to create tone-on-tone effect.

2. Apply Rubber Band Technique with Archival Black Ink on background scrap.

3. Die cut wonky stitched frame (My Favorite Things and Simon Says Stamp, respectively). Die cut text (Hero Arts) and bird (Memory Box).

4. Stamp the text and assemble the card as shown.

I'd like to thank Loll for her wonderful tutorial video and inspirations. I’m so delighted that I made this card. Hope this mixed media CAS card is eye-pleasing to you. Thanks for stopping by.

Distress Ink Direct on Stencil is my choice in this card.

     My favorite technique is stenciling.

The beautiful colors like pink, orange, yellow and the bird all remind me that spring is coming.
