Hello- Stenciling with Embossing Paste and Alcohol Inks

Hi Artsy Friend,

It’s time to play along with Happy Little Stampers StencilChallenge again. The April Challenge Theme is once again Anything Goes.

No matter if your project style is CAS, Mixed Media, …, as long as it involves stencils, you’re welcomed to join. For Challenge Rules and other DT’s inspirations, please check out the Challenge Blog. The Theme has endless possibilities, so please do join us for the fun.

This month I challenged myself to use a black card base which I rarely did. It’s also the first time I tried adding alcohol inks to embossing paste, thanks to the inspirations from Stunningly Styled Stencils online class of Altenew Academy.  I kind of like how it turns out. The following is how I made my card. Hope it’s eye-pleasing to you as well. Thanks for stopping by.

Card Details

1. Apply White Embossing Paste over stencil on a black card base.

2. When done, drop Ranger Alcohol Inks (Wild Plum, Aqua, Meadow) randomly on Embossing Paste, then use an art knife to spread out the colors.

3. Let dry. Clean stencil and art knife immediately.

4. Die cut text on white card stock three times. Stack them together to create depth.

5. Adhere text and some sequins on black card base. Mount it to a white card. Voila!

*stencil, text die, and embossing paste are by Altenew.

For more details and other DTs’ inspirations, please check out the Challenge Blog. Anything mixed media could be linked up to our challenge as long as it follows our theme. Be sure to join for a chance to win $15.

When I saw the word - SPLATS, I instantly thought of Alcohol Inks and Tim Holtz’s signature technique – Alcohol Ink Splatter. The following are how I made my tag.

Tag Details

1. Apply Alcohol Ink Monoprint Technique on glossy paper for the background.

2. Apply Alcohol Ink Splatters Technique to create two flowers on tag as shown.

3. Stamp text background.

4. Apply Pearlescent Embossing Pastes over two overlapping stencils at the center of two flowers, respectively.

5. Stamp butterflies and sentiment in black on tag. Stamp two butterflies on vellum paper, die cut the vellum butterflies and attach.

I’m excited that I dug out Alcohol Inks and revisited Tim's two Alcohol Inks Techniques, together with the stenciling technique. Hope my tag is inspirational to you. Please drop me a note if you like my tag. Thanks for stopping by and wish you a great day.

The tag was chosen as a Favorite by Happy Little Stampers November Mixed Media Challenge. Thanks, DTs.

I haven’t played alcohol inks for quite a long time. Were it not for a challenge hosted by Happy Little Stampers with the theme of alcohol inks, I wouldn’t have dug out my AIs and played! Viola. This is what I made. This is also the first Christmas artwork I made this year.

Tag Details

1. Stamp and stencil are by Stampers Anonymous/Tim Holtz.
2. Technique applied – Tim’s signature Alcohol Ink Agate Technique
3. The falling snow was covered by Pearlescent Embossing Paste.

The Best is Yet to Come --六張 Artist Trading Card (ATC) 之八

These are a series of ATC (Artist Trading Card) that I made for a special gathering activity - Stampers in Taiwan Gathering back in July! Boy, I was so so busy that I totally forgot to share!

I like the quote – The best is yet to come. Then we can always hope for the best, right?

Card Detail
1.      Background technique is called Alcohol Ink Floating, an easy and great technique that you can mass produce background paper in no effort.

2.      Stamp is by Stampington & Company, Christine Adolph.

Hero Arts

(Herringbone)

My Favorite Things

1.      You Are in My Thoughts 刊登在VSN雜誌5月號的作品
2.      Thinking of You
3.      Have I Told You Lately

Flower Power

Hero Arts
