So Grateful – Pigment Ink Blending

Hi Artsy Friends,

I used to think Pigment Inks are for Heat Embossing. After noticing some demonstration stunning cards of ERUM TASNEEM using light-colored pigments inks over dark-colored cardstocks, I thought I might give it a try.

I decided to apply complimentary color scheme for this card. I think it turned out not bad. This has opened up more opportunities for me to make use of Pigment Inks. Thanks, Altenew, for hosting this challenge.

Hope this card is eye-pleasing to you. Thanks for stopping by and have a colorful day.

Pigment Inks (Buttercream, Warm Sunshine and Ruby Red), Embossing Folder and sentiment die are all by Altenew.

Get Well Soon – Real Leaf Print

Edited on 11/5/2021

I’m so glad this card was chosen as a TOP Three by CAS Mix Up October Mixed Media Challenge. What an honor!

Hi Artsy Friends,

Today I challenged myself to apply Oxide Inks on a real leaf and printed it on a card, thanks to inspirations from several challenges. The shape of the leaf is very special, isn’t it?

It’s Bauhinia or so-called Purple Camel’s Foot/ Orchid Tree/Mountain Ebony. Bauhinia is very popular here in Taiwan and is one of my favorite street trees. And there’re two huge Bauhinia in my neighborhood.

The card is for a friend who’s going to have an operation. Hope my card is eye-pleasing to you. Thanks for stopping by and have a beautiful day.

Sentiment is by Hero Arts. Wonky Frame die is by my Favorite Things.

Sending Lots of Love and HUGS- Herringbone

Edited on 2021/10/21

I'm excited that this card was chosen as a Featured Project by Little Red Wagon Challenge #622.

Hi Artsy Friends,

I’m playing with Altenew Educators “Alphabet Name Game” Blog Hop and Linky Party + Giveaway. This is such an interesting challenge that I can’t afford missing it.

My first name starts with H. I have incorporated 3 H components in my card, namely Heat Embossing, Hugs with letter H and Herringbone Technique which I haven't played for a long time.

I dug out my Altenew Patterned Papers and made the Herringbone pattern. I’m so happy that I finished the card before the last minute. Hope it’s eye-pleasing to you. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day.

Patterned Paper, stamp and sentiment die cut are all by Altenew.

Hello, You Make Me Smile - Herringbone

Edited on 4/21/2019
I’m happy that this ATC was picked as a Top Three by Through the Craft Room Door Challenge out of 100+ entries, with the following remark:

Such a great idea to recycle scraps to make such colourful and striking cards especially in a climate where everything seems to be disposable and single use.

Hi Artsy Friends,
I’m so excited to become a member of Happy Little Stampers (HLS) ATC (Artist Trading Card/Coin) Challenge Design Team starting from April. I haven’t made ATCs for a long time. The DT role will surely enable me to make more ATCs in the future. Ha!

The APRIL Challenge Theme is PERTTY PAPERS.

For Challenge Rules and other DTs’ inspirations, please check out the Challenge Blog. Please join us for the fun.

Pretty Papers made me think about the scraps/leftovers of Mixed Media background papers that I’ve kept. The following are how I made my ATC.

ATC Details

1. Dig out my previously-made Mixed Media background paper scraps.

2. Apply Herringbone Technique to arrange the paper scraps to a panel.

3. Stamp text in black ink. Die cut texts from black card stock and adhere to Herringbone panel. (Texts and Die Cuts are by Hero Arts.) Mount the panel to a white ATC card base. Viola!

I hope these ATCs are eye-pleasing to you.

For my previous Herringbone Technique card, please check out here. Thanks for stopping by and wish you a great day ahead.

Hello, You Brighten My Day

Edited on 4/29/2018
I’m super excited that this card was chosen as one of the Outstanding Designs by CAS Mix Up Challenge Blog. Thanks DTs, you ladies made my day!

Hi Stamping Friends,

Rubber Band Technique is something I learnt in my early stage of stamping journey, yet I haven’t played it for many years. I was so inspired and fascinated by Loll’s artworks that I decided to make a card with a similar style.

Card Details

1. Use a previously-made scrap (shown below) and apply Distress Inks to create tone-on-tone effect.

2. Apply Rubber Band Technique with Archival Black Ink on background scrap.

3. Die cut wonky stitched frame (My Favorite Things and Simon Says Stamp, respectively). Die cut text (Hero Arts) and bird (Memory Box).

4. Stamp the text and assemble the card as shown.

I'd like to thank Loll for her wonderful tutorial video and inspirations. I’m so delighted that I made this card. Hope this mixed media CAS card is eye-pleasing to you. Thanks for stopping by.

Today is a Good Day to Smile

Hi Stamping Friends,

It’s time to play along with Happy Little Stampers (HLS) Mixed Media Challenge again. The September Challenge Theme is COLLAGE.

For more details and other DTs’ inspirations, please check out the Challenge Blog. Anything mixed media could be linked up to our challenge as long as it follows our theme. Be sure to join for a chance to win $20.

Were it not for this challenge, I wouldn’t have dug out patterned paper scraps and some previous DIY book pages from my old project leftover box. The following are how I made this tag.

Tag Details

1. Adhere patterned paper scraps and DIY book pages to tag to create a collage using Gel Medium.

2. While Gel Medium is wet, cover the collage with several pieces of tissue paper, creating some wrinkle effects, to reach Shabby Chic look.

3. Die cut butterflies. Apply Distress Inks on the white butterfly.

4. Heat Emboss text in white on black cardstock. Torn the edge. Lay silver sting under the butterfly. Assemble the tag as shown.

I must say I’m quite delighted for what I’ve made. Hope this tag is eye-pleasing to you. I also hope “today is a good day to smile” for you. Thanks for stopping by.

Card Details

1. All stamps are by Hero Arts and all stencils are by Tim/Stampers Anonymous.
2. Pumpkins were colored by Copic Markers.
3. I added crackle embossing paste first. After dry, I applied two layers of stenciling then covered the whole tag with some distress inks.  I overstamped the newspaper background, making the whole background full of textures as shown below.
