Sending Smiles My Sweet Friend

Edited on 7/9/2021

I'm excited that this card was chosen as a Top 4 Picks by Krafty Chicks Challenge and Top 3 by Crafty Sentiments Designs Challenge. Thanks, DTs.

Hi Artsy Friends,

With the Pandemic around, our Social Distance guidelines include minimizing social gathering. As such I’ve been staying home during the weekends. Today I decided to practice some embossing folder techniques. This does cheer myself up and send myself smiles.

Hope this card is eye-pleasing to you. Thanks for stopping by.

Card Details

1. Embossing Folder and sentiment die are by Simon Says Stamp. Tiny sentiment stamp is by Altenew. Background crosshatch stamp is by Stampin’ Up.

2. I applied 3 techniques in total with this card. Can you tell?

I’d like to enter my card to the following challenges.

My favorite technique is to play with embossing folders by inking the raised portion of one side of the folder, stamping a background stamp with a deeper color on the same side of the folder, placing a card stock, then running through a die cut machine. Then sponge a complimentary color on the raised portions of the card panel, which are the flowers in my card above.

Hugs, Awesome Friend

I'm so glad this card was chosen as a Team Picks at Tic Tac Toe Challenge #118. Thanks, DT.

Hi Artsy Friend,

I wanted to try a second card using Altenew’s June inspiration photo colors. I decided to make a blue flower but I had little idea what flowers are blue. So I googled and found that Anemone flowers are blue. And, ha, I happened to have a set of Anemone flower stamp. Voila!

Hope this card is eye-pleasing to you. Thanks for stopping by and wish you a great day ahead.

Card Details

All stamps and dies are by Altenew.

I was inspired by the color scheme.

I have Friendship, Free and Any Shape Die in my card.

I love…. flower, layered stamping, and die cut.

The bold sentiment and shadow die cuts are the leftover I created for this card. I tend to make lots of sentiment die cuts in one time to save time and to save cardstocks.

Art Journal Page – Make a Beautiful Mess Today

Hi Artsy Friends,
I haven’t done any art journal page for a long time. Inspired by Tania Ahmed’s Demystifying Mixed Media Art Journals Online Class offered at Altenew Academy, I dug out my art journal and made this page. It is the very first time for me to try Watercolor Brush Marker droplets over a gesso-primed page, then used a brayer to spread out the colors. It’s so much fun to MAKE A BEAUTIFUL MESS today!

Hope the page is eye-pleasing to you. Thanks for stopping by and wish you a great day.

Art Journal Page Details
Watercolor Brush Markers, sentiment stamps and butterfly dies are by Altenew. Background stamp and alphabet stencil are by Tim Holtz. Mixed Media elements stencil is by TCW.

Happy Crafting

Hi Artsy Friend,

It’s time to play along with Happy Little Stampers Stencil Challenge again. The June Challenge Theme is once again Anything Goes.

No matter if your project is CAS, Mixed Media, Art Journal, Tag,…, as long as it involves stencils, you’re welcomed to join. For Challenge Rules and other DT’s inspirations, please check out the Challenge Blog.  The Theme has endless possibilities and I can’t wait to see what you have come up with.

This month I challenged myself to play with multi-layer stenciling. It’s also my first time to try applying embossing powder over embossing paste. I’d like to thank Tania Ahmed for the inspirations as this is in fact Lesson 6 homework of her Demystifying Mixed Media Art Journals Online Class offered at Altenew Academy. It’s a shame that I’m far behind! Instead of creating an art journal page, the card size is more manageable for me. Hope my card is inspirational to you. Wish all of you happy crafting. Thanks for stopping by and wish you a great day ahead.

Card Details

1. Apply distress ink (Fossilized Amber) over background stencil (Beveled Squares, Altenew), leaving some white space on four sides.

2. Apply distress ink (Vintage Photo) over alphabet/number stencil (Tim Holtz) as shown. Heat set.

3. Apply embossing paste (Altenew) over stencil (Mixed Sprinkles, Altenew) randomly. Sprinkle gold embossing powder (Altenew) over embossing paste. Heat set.

4. Layered-stamping two Morning Glory flowers (Altenew) and die cut.

5. Stamp sentiments (Altenew) in black, flower stems in green. Adhere the flowers as shown.

6. Mount the card base to a half-folded card. Voila!

I'd like to enter my card to the following Challenges.

I was inspired by the color scheme.

I did not play with the optional color.

I’ve chosen two words from the Poem, SPRING and EARTH. For me flowers, Morning Glory, represent spring and brown color represents earth.

Happy (34th) Anniversary

Edited on 6/13/2021

I'm so glad this card was chosen as a Team Picks at Tic Tac Toe Challenge #116. Thanks, DT, what a lovely surprise.

Hi Artsy Friends,

Today is my 34th anniversary. Because of the pandemic, we can’t celebrate, no travelling, not even going to a fine restaurant to celebrate! Yet we’re grateful because we, my whole family, are all safe.

Since I’m staying home, I challenged myself to make a masculine anniversary card for my hubby. (Masculine card is not something I'm good at.) It turned out that he loves it very much. I can see that he is deeply touched. Yay!

Card Details

Stencil and circle die are by Simon Says Stamp, faceted heart die is by Tim Holtz and sentiment die is by Altenew. Sentiment stamp in card inside is by Papertrey Ink. The quote is romantic, isn't it?

I’d like to enter my card to the following challenges.

Challenges to Enter

I have heart, Circle and Green

I’ve chosen two words from the Poem, HEART and EARTH. For me Green represents earth.
